As we know the CA course registration is not for an indefinite period for any level. Students need to re-validate their registration on the expiry of a specified time period. The following are the time limits after which a student needs to revalidate his or her registration – (Extension in the validity period of CA course registration)
- Foundation – 3 years
- Intermediate – 4 years
- Final -5 Years
The time period to re-validate CA course registration has been extended by ICAI till 1st May 2021.
On 23rd September 2020, ICAI has announced an extension of up to 1 year in this time limit. This extension is a one-time measure for the students due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the merging of May 2020 exams with the November 2020 exams.
The students those registrations were expired or going to expire from 1st May 2020 to 30th April 2021 (including both the dates), can avail benefit of this announcement. Now their registration will be valid till 1st May 2021 for all levels i.e. CA Foundation, CA Intermediate, and CA Final.
Let’s understand how this extension will work-
|Expiry of Registration||Effect of announcement|
|On or before 30th April 2020||This date has not been covered in the announcement. Hence students are required to revalidate their registration.|
|Between 1st May 2020 to 30th April 2021|
(including both the dates)
|Exemption from revalidation. Students can appear in November 2020 and May 2021 examination without any revalidation.|
|On 1st May 2021||As it is the last date covered by announcement hence the students can appear in May 2021 examination without revalidation.|
|On or after 2nd May 2021||Now the students are required to revalidate their registration to appear in November 2021 examinations.|
Students must note that it is only a one-time measure to provide relaxation to the students due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
